A timely read after having just posted my thoughts on these sites. While checking what my friends and family have been up to on one of the sites I am a member of, I came across this blog (2nd degree) that discussed the 'Perils of Networking'. Sound and logical advise, specially to the non-tech savvy, that I strongly believe everyone should keep in mind while enjoying the benefits of connectivity.
The adults of today may be aware of the consequences but a lot of teen-agers (including mine) are more and more into these sights. It is best we make them aware - on top of having internet usage, downloads and access rules at home - of the perils of giving out too much information and having internet contacts they don't personally know. Remember that THEIR information is YOUR information too and many unscrupulous entities scouring the net for information to steal can gain access to yours through THEM.
Take time to make them understand how to enjoy these sites with their friends with caution. Happy networking.
